Revealed: Why you should educate yourself about money

Given how important financial skills are to navigating life, it’s surprising that most of us don't understand the most elementary basics of money and how money works. Many people today are struggling financially because they do not educate themselves about finance.  They have very little understanding of how to grow their money, how to generate wealth and the potential impact on their financial well-being.

Most people misidentify that to be educated about money and finance they have to be a whiz at maths, or be an expert in Financial Reporting Standards, or study debits and credits. This is a major misidentification, a massive disconnection between perception and reality. The resulting financial illiteracy is the major reason why so many people struggle financially. Make no mistake–an ignorance of personal finance, while probably unintentional, has serious consequences.

When we talk about educating yourself about money and finance we are actually talking about  educating yourself about what having money is, what would it take to create more and what would it take to create the life you desire —not how to survive within the supply and demand of this reality, which often based on scarcity and lack.

Having financial awareness – an understanding of how money can work for you – has never been more important.  Any improvement in financial awareness will have a profound impact on your ability to use money to generate wealth for your future while  creating your life that is going to give you everything you desire.

Educating yourself about money and personal finance is a progressive discovery of your own financial reality - how much money you have, how much you owe, how much you spend, how much money it costs you to live each month, how much you need to generate each month, what your net worth is andwhatyour assets are worth. One reason this education is necessary is because to have generative wealth you need to be aware of where you are financially at all times.

You can continue to not educate yourself about money and ignore the need to look at your personalfinancial realities. Or, you can make a different choice to become aware of what you need to know in order to create a strong financial base from which to create a different financial reality. You can alter your financial reality by altering your choice. Not a very difficult choice, but surprisingly few people make this choice to bridge the gap between being financially bewildered and being financially savvy.

Making that choice to educate yourself about money is absolutely within your power. It starts with acknowledging the power of your choice, andacknowledging that it is truly possible for you to be financially aware.  Educating yourself about money and personal finance is one of the greatest investment in your life. It costs little, risks nothing, and returns huge rewards. It is the best investment you can make. Unlimited possibilities to generate money and wealth are present every moment of every day of the week. The question is, "Are you ready and willing to receive and benefit from them?'
